ENGLISH Australia's Department of Home Affairs has raised study, work, and working‑holiday visa application fees with no advance notice and no industry consultation. The changes took effect immediately on 1 July 2026. Visa fees rose by roughly 25% across the board. The study visa fee is now AU$2,500 for higher education/VET and AU$2,050 for ELICOS — making Australia the most expensive study destination in the world to apply to. A temporary work visa application now costs AU$5,750. As before, students whose visa applications are rejected are not refunded.
